Some goodbyes are hard because they are full of gratitude. After 12 wonderful years at the Mann Art Gallery, Lana is moving on to the next chapter of her career, and our team is feeling both the sadness of farewell and the deep joy of having worked alongside her.

Lana’s time at the gallery has been marked by care, creativity, curiosity, and connection. She has brought people together through art in ways that felt welcoming, thoughtful, and deeply human. Whether she was planning a program, greeting someone who stopped in for a chat, or helping a visitor see a work of art in a new way, Lana made people feel at home.

A career shaped by curiosity

One of Lana’s guiding goals has been to try every form of art at least once. That sense of curiosity has shaped so much of what she brought to the Mann Art Gallery.

It showed up in the way she approached programming. Lana never treated art as something distant or inaccessible. She looked for ways to help people step closer to it. Sometimes that meant creating opportunities to make something by hand. Sometimes it meant offering a conversation, a question, or a moment of encouragement. Often, it meant reminding people that art belongs to everyone.

That willingness to try, learn, and invite others along made Lana’s work feel generous. She brought enthusiasm to new ideas and care to familiar ones. She understood that a gallery is more than a place to look at art. It can also be a place to gather, reflect, laugh, listen, and grow.

For many visitors, those experiences mattered. A program can become the first time someone sees themselves as creative. A conversation can become the reason someone returns. A workshop can become a memory shared between friends, family members, classmates, or neighbours. Lana helped make those moments possible.

Making people feel welcome

At the heart of Lana’s work has always been a gift for connection.

Many people know that feeling of walking into a gallery and wondering if they belong there. Lana helped soften that hesitation. She welcomed visitors with warmth and patience. She made room for questions. She listened closely. She treated people not as audience members on the outside, but as participants in the life of the gallery.

That kind of welcome leaves a lasting mark. It changes how people experience art. It helps them feel that their own thoughts, stories, and reactions matter.

A colleague who cared deeply

Lana’s contributions reach far beyond her professional skills. She has been a wonderful colleague, a thoughtful listener, and someone who genuinely cares about the people around her.

A strong team depends on more than finished tasks and completed projects. It depends on kindness, trust, humour, and the steady presence of people who pay attention. Lana brought all of that to the gallery.

She supported the work with creativity, but also with heart. She noticed when someone needed encouragement. She made space for different ideas. She brought care to conversations and respect to relationships. Those qualities helped shape the culture of the gallery as much as any program or exhibition.

Her presence will be deeply missed by our team. The gallery will feel different without her daily care, curiosity, and warmth. At the same time, the mark she has made will remain part of who we are.

A lasting part of the Prince Albert arts community

Lana’s impact reaches beyond the walls of the Mann Art Gallery. Over the past 12 years, she has been part of the wider Prince Albert arts and culture community in a way that reflects her generous spirit.

Lana has asked us to share just how much her time in PA and at the gallery has shaped her personal and professional life. She will miss everyone in the Prince Albert and area arts and culture community, and she says she is so much richer for having been part of it.

That feeling is mutual. We are richer for having had Lana as part of our gallery story.

Thank you, Lana

Thank you, Lana, for 12 years of curiosity, kindness, creativity, and connection. Thank you for the programs you shaped, the conversations you held, the ideas you welcomed, and the care you brought to this work every day.

Thank you for helping people feel that art was for them. Thank you for being a generous colleague and a steady presence. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to the Mann Art Gallery and to the Prince Albert arts and culture community.

We will miss you dearly, and we cannot wait to see all the wonderful things you do next. Wherever your path takes you, we know you will continue making a difference in the lives of those around you.
