This past Saturday marked a beautiful and successful opening reception for In Conversation, the latest exhibition at the Mann Art Gallery showcasing the expressive and layered work of Saskatchewan artist Connie Freedy. With a great turnout and warm atmosphere, the afternoon truly reflected the spirit of Connie's art: thoughtful, inviting, and full of connection.

A huge thank you goes to Heidi O'Brodovich, who catered the event with a spread that received the highest of praise from attendees. Her food was not only delicious but helped create a welcoming space where people lingered, mingled, and enjoyed great conversation.

The highlight of the afternoon was the curator and artist conversation between Connie Freedy and curator Jesse Campbell. Their engaging talk provided meaningful insights into Connie's personal history, her deep connection to life in Saskatchewan, and the evolution of her unique artistic voice. The dialogue-style format opened the floor for public engagement and sparked thoughtful discussion—thank you to everyone who attended and contributed with your curiosity and reflections.

If you weren’t able to make it, there’s good news: we’re offering a free public tour based on the artist talk this Friday, May 2, from 12:00–1:00 PM as part of our "Art for Lunch" series. Stop by for a quick art break or stay the full hour for an insightful guided tour of In Conversation.

And if you're unavailable this week, don't worry—a second Art for Lunch tour will be held on Friday, May 30.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our funders, without whom free public events like these would not be possible: Diane and Roger Mann, the City of Prince Albert, SK Arts, SaskCulture, Sask Lotteries, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

Stay tuned for more programs and updates as the exhibition continues through June 21, 2025!
