Announcing Jason Baerg: Guest Curator for the Mann Art Gallery’s 50th Annual Winter Festival

The Mann Art Gallery is honoured to announce Jason Baerg as the Guest Curator for the 50th Annual Winter Festival Art Show & Sale, opening in early 2026.
Raised Red River Métis in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and now a registered member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, Jason Baerg is a multifaceted Indigenous activist, curator, educator, and interdisciplinary artist. He currently serves as Assistant Professor in Indigenous Practices in Contemporary Painting and Media Art at OCAD University.
A graduate of Concordia University (BFA) and Rutgers University (MFA), Baerg co-founded The Shushkitew Collective and The Métis Artist Collective, reflecting his long-standing commitment to fostering community engagement in the arts. He has also served as volunteer Chair for organizations such as the Indigenous Curatorial Collective and the National Indigenous Media Arts Coalition.
As a visual artist, Baerg pushes the boundaries of digital interventions in drawing, painting, and new media installation. His international solo exhibitions have been presented at venues such as Canada House in London, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the Digital Dome at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Recognized for his artistic and curatorial excellence, Baerg has served on numerous art juries and has received major awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts Council.
